Homemade salad dressings are very easy to make. I think you will agree when you make this Teriyaki Salad Dressing.

Have you ever read the list of ingredients on a store-bought dressing? If not, go do so. There is a long list of hard to pronounce ingredients! I think I am better off without putting those into my body.

Make sure that you actually grate the onion, using whatever grater you have in your kitchen. Chopped onion, even finely chopped just will not give the correct taste.

This dressing is a little tangy and a little sweet. Perfect in my mind! Toss with your favorite green salad and you will be good to go!

What is the difference between soy sauce and teriyaki sauce?

Teriyaki sauce is much sweeter and is thicker than soy sauce. It typically includes soy sauce, water, a sweetener like sugar or honey, garlic, corn starch (to thicken) and ginger. It can also include sesame seeds and sesame oil. It’s more or less a basic Asian seasoning/marinade.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Teriyaki sauce
  • 1/3 cup white wine vinegar (you can use your favorite vinegar)
  • 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. grated onion
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 cup virgin olive oil (always use the best quality you can afford)

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients except the olive oil until well blended.
    Using a whisk, slowly add the olive oil. Whisk until thoroughly blended. 
    Store in the refrigerator, in a glass jar for up to two weeks. If the olive oil gets a little solid, zap in the microwave for a few seconds or place jar in warm water for a few minutes. Shake well before using. 
    Enjoy on your favorite salad!
